...was on April 5th. Easter Monday this year. I turned 24...which now starts to sound a bit older to me. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound as old as 50 (if our parents are reading this), but now when people ask how old I am, I don't feel so young...however, I still look like I am 18. This explains why people look for my wedding ring when they see me pushing the stroller. No, this wasn't a teen pregnancy. No, it wasn't a shot gun wedding. But thank you for asking, I appreciate your concern.
My grandma gave me a gift and these three old pictures. I cut out my sister and cousin because I am too lazy to ask if it's okay that I post them.
The first is me at my grandma's house with her cat Pepsi. This cat hated kids. The picture was probably taken moments before she hissed at me. I would come to loathe this cat as I grew up.
The second is me at age 5 I am guessing. My mom made Andrea and I matching dresses quite often. They were itchy, but I admire her skill. Notice my bangs. These were mild, usually they continued past my ear if you can believe it. Oh, don't forget the clip-on earrings. 5 going on 15.
I don't really know how old I am here. Maybe 11? My sister, cousin and I are in Grandma's backyard of her old house on a swing set. We are all wearing dresses...over our normal clothes. Andrea and my cousin are probably very happy right now that I cropped this photo. This was before make-up, blowdryers, and fashion. By grade 9 I will apply more make-up, and spend more time on my hair than I will for the rest of my years combined.
Old pictures are pretty fun.
Here is a new one: Daisha gave me tulips on my birthday. Nothing says spring more than tulips in my opinion.
April seems to be the month where you expect Spring, but the weather changes just to tease us further into thinking nice weather will never come.

Another thing about my birthday. This year I got sick for it, again. This is either the 3rd or 4th year in a row now. Not even kidding. No, I swear it's not a self-fulfilling prophecy either. I was in the shower, thinking about how I was sick, and then it dawned on me that it was my birthday tomorrow and that I was sick again. I never gave it a thought until the day before, when I was actually sick. So weird.
To celebrate, Kenton took me to Cafe deVille last night. It's such a lovely place, really quaint. Wrennie went to Nana & Papa's (aka Judy and Dean's). I have never appreciated a beautiful dinner out just talking with Kenton and eating great food so much!
LOVE the new format! Beautiful wallpaper, etc. I also love your "dresses over clothes" picture. My sis and I have some similar ones from growing up - lots of random dress up shots from very young till pre-teen age.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Amy! You are GREAT!
