Our Marbled Easter Eggs...

The video tutorial link I had on one of my last posts for marbled Easter eggs on Martha Stewart's website was actually more involved than I think most of us would want to attempt. So I googled how to do marbled eggs on some generic website instead. I'll show you how we went about it this morning. I'm glad I ran out for some groceries yesterday to do this craft today- the snow is too much for me to handle!

Start by making hard boiled eggs. I boiled a dozen for 10 minutes...

Then we let them cool in the fridge for an hour...

Wren was excited to start helping with the colouring process...

We got ready with aprons, bowls, towels and eggs...I wasn't sure how messy this was going to get.

I wasn't going to do anything crazy with colors this year, so we went for the basics...
Starting with bowls full of warm water, I poured in a tbsp of vinegar into each bowl of colour for the base coat on the eggs. Wren stirred.

We started with a base color on each egg.

Then we added a tbsp of olive oil to each bowl and dipped the eggs in again to get the marbled swirls...

Wren helped put the eggs in the bowls and swirl them around. A little messy, maybe too much oil?

We brought them to the table and dried them off with paper towels. When I asked Wren to smile, I got this face...!

Marbled eggs! My favourite is the green one on the bottom right with reddish swirls. Okay and maybe the blue and red one on the top left.

Wren was proud of her work!

But it was sure tiring...

Snap out of it!

Throw in a silly face...

Funny kid.

She keeps asking if we are going to eat them soon. I suppose it's possible to make some egg salad later on!

P.S. I wrote this post and didn't remember to say...

I'm 26!
Today's my birthday and for an afternoon craft (because I still wasn't venturing out into that gross snowy weather), Wren and I made headache inducing cupcakes. Pure sugar and butter. Mmmm!
In my next post I'll tell you what restaurant we went to and how much I loved it :)
