Hey Kids!!

Wren has really come out of her shell in the past few months. I credit most of that change to the play group I take her to weekly. It's once a week, kids her age (some younger and some just a bit older), toys, occasional crafts, and snacks.

I've noticed how much she has changed while we were there today and she was playing with some of the kids that are about 4 years old. And actually playing with them, not just sitting in the Fisher Price car by herself, wheeling around the room and observing everyone. She was right in there. But she used to be so shy and cautious. Now she will look at a kid and yell "Go away!" or "Dats mine!!". Kinda swung a little far in the opposite direction of shy, but we can work on that.

When we are in Superstore and she sees kids she yells..."HEY KIDS!!!" and looks at me  and says "Dose my fwends."
While we are at the park, she runs up to kids her age and asks "Wanna play wif me?". Sometimes she gets flat out rejected, but sometimes she makes a friend. She is excited, no, totally pumped to be with other kids.

She sees kids in the park across the street from our house and yells, "HEY GUYS!!" in a way that sounds like they've been friends forever. And she will keep yelling it until they notice.
When she says goodbye to Mason, the boy that lived next door, she would go right up to him and give him a big hug and a smooch on the cheek without hesitation.

Who is this kid that used to be such a cautious baby?
Okay, she still is cautious. Like family events when she is surrounded by adults. Honestly, she turns into an instant crank and goes on autopilot with the word "No."
Don't pick me up. Don't look at me the wrong way. Don't do anything or else I will freak.

But she loves kids.

  1. She is growing up far too fast. Can we put the brakes on this?!
