If you have ever been under the impression that I am a great baker, you were wrong. Because I can cook, I sometimes believe I can bake really well. That is a delusion I am working on.

My sister's stagette is tomorrow and part of it will be held at my house. I wanted to make some of her favourite snacks and sweets to eat. She likes angel food cake, so I had a box mix of it and thought, "how hard can that be??" I mean, you only have to add water, it's
that easy.

I thought it would be fun to make mini cakes in a muffin pan. Nope. Wrong. Bad idea. The instructions said place batter in an
ungreased pan. Ungreased. Really?? That seems so...backwards. But good baking is about following directions, isn't it. So I follow.

Thank goodness strawberry sauce is easy. Strawberries, heat, sugar, simmer.

Oh...dear...God. A nightmare cam out of my oven. This is bad, really bad.

All I can see is me now having a sucky time washing these muffin pans. Maybe I should use the rest of the batter in a normal loaf pan like they said and at least I will have something good to show for it all.
Oh no, what is THAT..
That also didn't work so well either. What I don't understand is, how can this mix be screwed up? You add water, mix it, and pour it in the pan and bake.
You know when some dirty dishes look so bad you consider just throwing them out?
I am so glad my mom is dropping off another pan of brownies before tomorrow!
Soak those puppies in super hot, soapy water for an hour. The nice thing about cake is that it gets soggy and mushy when wet. Just try not to barf, cuz it's still disgusting.
ReplyDeleteDaish, I was going to give the same advice! How did cleaning the pans go, Amy?
ReplyDeleteOh you know, I did something along those lines. I would say they are 98% clean. That's all the effort I had in me. I'll get them good the next go around!
