Whyte Ave has a vintage clothing store called "Decadence", and although I never have any luck finding anything for myself...I have found clothes for Wrennie. My favourite is below: her little summer dress.
I love this picture of her. It's one of those moments where you wonder what they are thinking about when they get that far away look on their face. It's pictures like these that make me think of the relatives that would have loved to meet her, but have already passed away. I know they would have, because I can see how much everyone around us enjoys her right now.
I am thinking of relatives like Kenton's Grandpa Jeske, my Grandpa Eugene (my Dad's dad), and my Great Aunty Liz.
Judging by how much Kenton loved his grandpa and the stories he tells me, I can only imagine what it would have been like for Wrennie to meet him. I never met him myself, as he passed away from cancer long before I entered the picture. But I am sure she would have taken to him immediately, just like Kenton and his brothers did.
My grandpa was sweet, and loved to bake and cook ( I wish I got those baking skills) and sometimes I can see him in Wrennie's big Neufeld face. (I know if you are reading this, and you are on Kenton's side of the family, you are thinking..."But she looks so much like Kenton when he was a baby!" And she does. And she looks just like my side. She is a good mix!) There is a picture of me at my first birthday with about 3 birthday cakes around me, and I am 99% sure he baked them all. I didn't know him that well, but I knew him enough to know that the moment he saw her he would have smiled until he had tears in his crinkly, happy eyes.
And my Aunty Liz. Actually, my dad's aunt. Her and my (great) Uncle Ron never had any kids of their own. I can still hear her laugh in my memory...it was one of those that was hard to forget! She would have been the one to bounce Wrennie and her chubby cheeks on her knee and play her right out every time she saw her.
Even though it is sad thinking of those that would have loved to meet her, I am grateful for her to see all the relatives she has now. It is amazing to see how much joy one little person can bring to friends and family and even strangers.
Thank you, everyone that loves her just because.
A lovely reflection, Amy. Wren sure is so cute in her vintage summer dress.
ReplyDeleteWe most certainly love her! Eric definitely would have loved her.
ReplyDeleteIt was so good to see you both on Saturday. That dress is absolutely adorable. I had no idea Decadence had children's cloths.
