Ellie in the grass

My neighbour has a nice camera and likes to dabble in photoshop. She was in the backyard one day and the grass was crazy long so we plunked Ellie in it for a few pictures.
My neighbour isn't a professional, but and I find the photos are usually heavily edited, but that's okay.
Here she is...

Baby bubbles

Hope you're having a fun weekend. I stayed out way to late with good friends last night already. But we hit up the downtown market, Wren went to the neighbour girl's birthday party, and tomorrow we have a picnic to go to!
Hope you have a good one, here's a hilarious picture of Ellie in the tub...

A pattern is forming

What a day. Boring as heck.
The girls were up at 5:40am.
I popped them in the stroller after Ellie's very short morning nap and we went for a run.
Then to the playground.
It started to sprinkle rain while she played with a neighbourhood friend. Then it poured.
I ran pushing them all the way home.
Ellie had a second very short nap.
Now we're doing nothing but bumming around.
I just can't be bothered to do anything at all but let them play while I blog.
I took pictures of them playing.

Ellie was sad about something, and when she's sad, she folds in half and puts her head down and cries.

Wren took this picture of her after much begging...

As I write this post, I can hear Wren in the bathroom calling to me to wipe her butt but I'm just ignoring her for a minute because I know she won't get up until I come. She'll just.keep.calling.
Ellie is walking across the living room towards me. She's getting really good at it.

The theme or pattern of the week is Ellie climbing on everything. Here is a perfect series of pictures showing how she gets onto the coffee table...

"Oh hey Mom, just walking across the table, see?"

"Oh hey Mom, just sitting on my dragon and probably going to stand up soon, see?"

Ellie's actual words- "Bucka bucka buckem! Mamamama..Bababa...Ga ga gack gack".

Honestly, kid.

Small Climber

Babies that can climb things is not a new concept to anyone, but it's new for me. Wren didn't have the upper body strength or agility to climb, but Ellie is crazy.

I know I just posted about this same topic, but today I snapped another shot or two of her in the bathroom.
She was silent as I looked around for her, wondering where she crawled off to.
There she was, standing on the stool in the bathroom. So sneaky!

My usual response (which is silly and obviously I say out loud only for myself), is
"Ellie! Come on!!" as I pull her down.

Wren's response to finding Ellie clambering up something is "Ellie you are a Stinker Fart!"
Oh Wren.

Escape Artists

A baby that can climb is new for us. Wren never had the agility to pull herself up onto any surface in the house.
Ellie, on the other hand, is our little monkey baby.
We find her on top of the toilet (cover down, usually..), on top of the coffee table, standing on her little dragon push thing, or like in this photo- trying to climb over the baby gate!
Luckily Wren is very helpful and yells, "MOM!!!" when she sees Ellie getting up onto something she shouldn't be.

And Happy Father's Day tomorrow! We have plans to go see the new Superman movie, Man of Steel. Kenton is so excited, he's been watching trailers all week.
Have a good one!

Staying cozy during the storm

After moving our potted plants to safer spots in the backyard because of the impending storm and
possible hail, we came inside and made a "nest".

While we were outside, Wren asked why all the birds were flapping away furiously (uh, not her words) and I explained that when a storm is coming, they fly to safe places like their nests. So we decided to run inside before it started to pour and make our nest.

The project has now turned into needing to make a fort.

Stay dry and cozy!

Wren's drawings, Ellie's pigtails

Below, is a hilarious picture Wren drew of Nana and Papa. I think she said they were sad because she wasn't with them.

The way she draws the hair on the stick people cracks me up. Apparently that stick coming out of Nana's head is a pony tail. Oh man!

Speaking of ponytails...

Ellie has the world's tiniest pigtails!

She really likes to find a piece of clothing, throw it onto her head and crawl around. I put the pj pants around her shoulders and she crawled around with them all afternoon. :)

A little update

It hasn't exactly been a month, but I have a couple of pictures building up and I felt the need to throw them out there for you.

Not only have I taken a break from blogging, but I was taking a break from all the social media we use (facebook..um I use Kenton's, pinterest and just reading blogs in general).

I noticed something super interesting happen as I was on this break- my priorities changed
I have no prob with Pinterest, I really like it. But it was creating this "to-do" list in the back of my mind that was unrealistic..."Oh I need that thing".. "I have to do that in the house".. "I should do that craft with the girls" and so on. Then you look at your budget for all that stuff you just NEED to do and go, uh yeah okay not going to happen, then you feel frustrated you can't do "anything you want" and it's an annoying cycle.
I stopped the cycle. For now. I still like Pinterest.

Meanwhile, staying off of Facebook meant I stopped hating people.
Haha, I'm sorry that's harsh. But honestly? Facebook is SOOO annoying and it literally makes you annoyed with basically everyone except like a couple of people or something, even if you tend to like these people in real life.  But then I saw cute preggo photos of my second cousin and was like "aww I love her" and Facebook redeemed itself for a total of 5 seconds until I was plain irritated I was wasting my life away sitting on it.

Staying off the computer is really nice in general. We are just such a show and tell (and maybe show-off?) culture with our technology now. We show each other pictures and videos and whatever else so much on our iphones or computers or when we are just hanging out or at a restaurant. It drives me crazy. That's a rant for another day.

Here is what we did in the meantime...

Swing love.

Need a satisfying toy for a 1 yr old? Give her a toothbrush. Hours of entertainment.

Prepping the yard for new sod to be put in. Wren is a great helper.

That was a brownie. Even she noticed how dry it was. Begone, dry gross brownie!

Same with hard boiled eggs. Not happening.

Not walking yet, but took her first couple of steps (twice!) today :)

One of three dresses that Wren is willing to wear right now. Bedtime or daytime. Only 3.

Amazing hair. It's her way of saying done-just rub my dirty hands through my hair.

Shovelling dirt into our garden to get ready and plant.

Loving the new grass. So soft, so fun.

I can't say I feel like blogging again, I feels like a bit of a chore sadly. But maybe the weather is just so much more enticing I'd rather not sit and write and wait for pictures to load.
So I'm sure I still will. We'll see how it goes.
