Morning hair

Some days Ellie's hair looks like an explosion on top of her head.
No matter, we carry on to do fun things!

Like sit and play a quite game..

of reading to your big sister.

Ellie doesn't hold still very often so a picture like this is a bit rare.
Lately I have found her standing on the arm of the couch ready to jump saying "Yook it MUM!"
or on top of the scary brick barbecue thing in the backyard looking over our neighbours fence. Sigh. Wren was not like this. Ellie is an adventurous little squirt and keeps us on our toes all.the.time.

She will be two next month, can you believe it??

Mini Yoga

Oh my, who else is so sick of being stuck indoors from the cold??
You can only go to so many indoor playgrounds, swimming pools and museums in the winter before you are broke and just wishing you could go for a nice wintery walk pulling your kids in the sled behind you.
But it's been too cold for even that.

So instead of turning on a movie the other day (like I usually do in the afternoon for Wren while Ellie naps), I turned on some kids yoga for fun.
Let me be clear- I'm not interested in kids "working out" or anything like that. I am interested in fun physical activity for kids.

I went on youtube and found "Cosmic Kids Yoga". It's a lady with an animated background leading kids in 15 min yoga sessions in each video. You kind of just have to see it. But it's bright, colourful and easy to follow along. She sort of tells a story and leads you in actions along with it.
Wren ate it up and even Ellie sort of gets into it for a few minutes. So cute!

(I tried talking Wren out of wearing a mini-skirt while doing these moves, but she wouldn't have it.)

You can find the link here. She has about 10 or more different videos like "Squish the Fish", "Enzo the Bee" and "Mike the Cosmic Space Monkey" which are Wren's favourites!

Ellie thinks it's so funny to try the moves and constantly says "Yook it Mum!"
Kind of a nice way to do something a bit different indoors when they are sick of everything else. Or at least distract them while you slap on some make up while you try to get ready quickly in the morning? :)

Bringing winter indoors

A friend of mine had a great idea that she does with her kids- if it's too cold outside, bring outside indoors! She's so smart.
We do this every once in a while on those insanely cold days.

At first Ellie didn't get it, she thought we were getting dressed to go outside but soon realized that her hands would freeze off if she tried to play without her mittens.

This is usually a hit, instead of playing with the same old toys again that they have grown so bored of.

And just for fun, these pics are from a couple of weeks ago before I took Wren to go get her hair cut. I found them in t he bathroom getting ready. Wren was coming Ellie's (sparse) hair and Ellie was loving it.

Wren wanted her hair to stay as long as Rapunzel's (like from the movie, Tangled), but we chopped a solid 2 inches off. I was tired of brushing through endless knots. It's pretty cute now, I'll get on another post sooner than later...hopefully! Does anyone even stop by here anymore?! I would have given up too!
Anyways, stay warm. :)
