Homemade Pizza

I really like homemade pizza. When done in steps ahead of time, it's fairly quick and easy.
But this one was a bit involved. You can pretty much do whatever you want for pizza though, it's fairly forgiving. Just make a killer crust and the rest is easy.

I use the Martha Stewart recipe for pizza dough. I freeze it so I have some ready when it's pizza night.

Last night I realized I didn't have much to put on the pizza...so I experimented with beet greens. Why not?
I sautéed them in olive oil, salt and pepper and lemon juice until soft.

Next I sliced up some red pepper, pulled out some fresh mozzarella and chopped up herbs like basil and oregano.

I spread some sauce onto the dough (which I rolled out and didn't take a picture of because I was covered in flour. It's messy business!). I had made the sauce a few days ago just roasting quartered tomatoes in olive oil, salt and garlic cloves in the oven for 45 min at 350F and then pureed it. (Yeah I know, this is like, the most simplest pizza recipe of all, not!)
I turn up the crust because once I didn't and sauce dripped all over the bottom of the oven. I still haven't cleaned it. I'm too busy doing stuff like this, right?

Drop on the beet leaves, pepper and herbs...

Tear up the cheese and drizzle on some olive oil...

Bake at 425F for 18-20 min. Eat!!

Ellie the Squeeze Toy

Wren was making Ellie giggle the other day...by sitting on her.
We took pictures at the cuteness in front of us thinking it would be a one time thing Wren did. (Why would it be??)
Then I was doing dishes the next day and heard the sweet Ellie giggles, knowing the two of them were playing again. Smiling, I walked into the living room to see what Wren was doing to make her laugh, and she was sitting on her with all her weight (like picture above) and pushing down on Ellie's tummy with her hands. Ellie, the squeeze toy.
Yeah so that game got shut down pretty quick. But I had to try and keep from laughing when Wren wasn't looking because it was kind of funny.
Could be worse.

Sidewalk Chalk Family

I drew our little family on the sidewalk, and then Kenton added our glasses because he felt that was more accurate for him and I to have them on. So Wren wanted everyone to have glasses.
And she wanted them to have feet underneath.
Silly.

I'm on Pinterest (finally!)

I made it. I am just barely on Pinterest. It's confusing stuff when you don't have a facebook or twitter account, but I did it!

I have a few boards where I pin things, and pin via other people and wow do I ever feel like I'm speaking a different language. This has all come about tonight, so I'm still learning.

You can find me under "Amy Lauree". Uh,  you probably know better than me how to "follow" me on it. I can't tell you because I have no clue what I'm doing. And can someone please explain to me why the Pinterest home page keeps showing me huge amounts of mens fashion. I don't know what I did to make Pinterest think I like men's clothing over any other category of everything in life.

I'm so addicted already...

Nothing too crazy going on here...

I think our weekly trip to the market has been the most exciting part of this long weekend for us. And even going there wasn't too thrilling. It was cold, and there were line ups.

Here's Wren waiting for a balloon, except that she never got one because there was a million kids all wanting them too. I didn't photograph the saddest face ever when we gave up and moved on...We convinced her to go get a waffle instead.

We might have to continue to go when the market moves come Fall...

We've mostly been hanging out at home. I plunked Ellie into the Bumbo despite not getting the new safety strap for it (*gasps!! horrors!!*) because of that recall thingy. My kids are too fat to get out of it so I'm not worried.
Ellie thought it was sweet...

Wren was annoyed that I turned to take her picture. That has been my weekend, Irritated Toddler.
She's not a fan of fall clothes. She was so good at picking out clothes by herself, getting her own summer shoes on.
And then we threw a wrench into the whole system...well, the weather did actually.
Wren, put on your boots. NO BOOTS. Wren, put on your coat, it's chilly outside. NO COAT. Wren, you're not going outside until you have socks on in those shoes okay. WAAHHHH!!!

Anyone else going through this right now?

Those are some blue eyes! She doesn't back talk yet. She still thinks I'm awesome no matter what. :)

More of Ellie loving this Bumbo business...

(Happy baby! Even if I don't have such a happy toddler right now!)
