No More Helmet!!!

So here is the low-down on the helmet situation....

Wrennie doesn't have to wear it anymore!!!

3 weeks ago we had stopped putting it on her at night to see if she would sleep better, and she was. With the helmet, she kept waking up throughout the night because her head was too heavy to move around or it would get her face stuck into her mattress. Therefore, she was wearing it about half time.

2 weeks ago she got really sick with a temperature so the helmet had to stay off. You aren't supposed to keep it on them if they have a fever, so we kept it off for a few days. We were also both so sick that we missed the appointment that we had booked during that time and couldn't get in until the week after.

After Wrennie was better we tried putting the helmet back on, but it didn't close properly anymore.

Kenton and I were at the point of not wanting to do the helmet anymore because she was no longer sleeping on her back and on the flat side of her head- she only wanted to lay on her tummy with the good side of her head to the mattress now. Since she has started sitting up and crawling, she was spending zero time on the flat side of her head during the day as well. We weren't concerned about her head continuing to get flatter, and if she couldn't sleep with it at night, we thought- screw it, her head is looking good, her face has changed, her eyes match, things are fine.

So today I took her to her appointment, prepared to express my opinion of what we planned to do to the nurse we were seeing. But before I had to, she took one look at her head and said, "Her head looks so good, I don't see the need for the helmet anymore." She also said that her shifted ear and forehead would work itself over time and that sometimes babies wear these helmets for so long and not much of a difference is seen anyways. She felt that if Wrennie wasn't sleeping on the flat side anymore and we were okay with it, we didn't need to continue with the helmet anymore. YES!! According to her, Wrennie's head shape is not quite perfect, but it's pretty darn good and it will work itself over time without the helmet.

They took "exit photos" -ones just like we had done in the beginning. Sort of like a before and after shot of her head.

So that's it! We are done, and we are sooo excited to say the least.

This was my baby toque as a kid, and she was wondering if she could wear it instead...just kidding.
